Instagram boosts self-esteem with this new update!
No one can doubt the huge effect social media has on our lives and mental health, Especially young people and teenagers who are stressed and pressured of how many likes they will receive on a post rather than enjoying the story they capture and share, They also suffer from low self-esteem and the feel of inequality.
This was the main reason behind the test Instagram decided to run in areas like Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand.
In this test, the number of likes of a post is hidden Also, the number of views for each video is hidden too.
However, Instagram users can still view the number of likes their own posts receive.
With this test, Instagram hopes people would focus on the story they want to tell and share what they love and are passionate about with people whom they care about. They want the content of a picture or a video to decide its popularity and not the number of likes below each picture or video.
It is important to mention that Instagram said the test would not affect measurement tools for businesses. So users can still see the list of people who liked other people's content by clicking into it.
